I am an alcoholic.
Only by the Amazing Grace and Tender Mercy of
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
There are no dues or fees for AA membership;
AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution;
Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

GOD as I understand Him

since January 12, 1998.
For my sobriety I shall be eternally grateful.

We drank for happiness and became unhappy.
We drank for joy and became miserable.
We drank for sociability and became argumentative.
We drank for sophistication and became obnoxious.
We drank for friendship and made enemies.
We drank for sleep and awakened without rest.
We drank "medicinally" and acquired health problems.
We drank for relaxation and got the shakes.
We drank for bravery and became afraid.
We drank for confidence and became doubtful.
We drank to make conversation easier and slurred our speech.
We drank to feel heavenly and ended up feeling like hell.
We drank to forget and were forever haunted.
We drank for freedom and became slaves.
We drank to erase problems and saw them multiply.
We drank to cope with life and invited death.

MOTHER TERESA'S PRAYER
People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
THE TWELVE STEPS TO INSANITY
Borrowed, but I could have written it since unfortunately that is how I lived!

. . . Be kind anyway.
. . . Succeed anyway.
. . . Be honest and frank anyway.
. . . Build anyway.
. . . Be happy anyway.
. . . Do good anyway.
. . . Give the world the best you've got anyway.
It was never between you and them anyway.
1. We admitted we were powerless over nothing -- that we could manage our lives perfectly as well as the lives of anyone else who would allow us to do so.
2. Came to believe that there was no power greater than ourselves and that the rest of the world was sadly mistaken to think otherwise.
3. Made a decision to have our loved ones, our co-workers and the remotest of acquaintances turn their wills and their lives over to our care, even though they had no idea what we were talking about.
4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of everyone we knew.
5. Admitted our perfection to the whole world and stood ready to expose the exact nature of everyone else's wrongs.
6. Were entirely ready to show others how to remove their defects of character so that they could give us the respect we deserve.
7. Demanded that others do our bidding because they were imperfect while we were always enlightened.
8. Made a list of all persons who had harmed us in any way and became willing to go to any lengths to get even with every last one of them.
9. Got direct revenge on such people whenever and however possible except where to do so would cost us our lives or serious jail time.
10. Continued to take inventory of others and when they were wrong we promptly and repeatedly let them know it.
11. Sought through complaining and medication to improve our relations with others as we could not understand them at all, asking only that they do things our way or not bother. 12. Having had a complete and total physical, emotional and spiritual breakdown as a result of these steps, we tried to blame it on others and to get sympathy and pity in all our affairs.
